I opened Eric Hull, Computer Specialist in August 2015 and have been on my own through subcontracting since March 2011.
I was born and raised in Northern New Mexico. I moved from New Mexico to South Florida in 1988 at the age of 19. After 18 years in South Florida, I moved to East Tennessee with the expectation of a happy medium between perpetual summer in Florida and bitter cold of the North.
I’ve had a fascination and love of computers since childhood, getting my first computer when I was ten years old. It was a Timex/Sinclair 1000 with 1K of RAM! From there I graduated to the Commodore 64 and then the Commodore Amiga (which is my personal favorite.) In 1995 I was able to turn my computer hobby into a profession. I was working in a manufacturing firm in data entry when my computer failed. I was allowed to do the troubleshooting and repairs (motherboard replacement) and that impressed the IT Director who then pulled me into the IT department. I learned networking and server administration while in that position. I then moved on to a computer consulting firm and rose through the ranks quickly. While there, I earned Microsoft and hardware certifications. I also was given the nickname “the Great One” by my co-workers as I had a high success rate in solving customers’ problems. They were also impressed when I had disassembled a laptop to individual components and had to wait for parts for two weeks but was still able to re-assemble the laptop with ease.
I have A+ and Microsoft MCP and MCSE certifications.
